Antique Nassau "Thorens-Type" Automatic Lighter Circa 1905-1911

Description

This auction is for an antique Nassau "Thorens-Type" automatic cigarette or pipe lighter. It was
manufactured between 1905-1911, and is either silver plated or nickel plated. The lighter is in very
good condition for its age, and has only some light surface scratches associated with use. These
were designed to be used with a square flint, but a standard barrel-shaped flint does work. I put a
Ronson flint in the lighter, and it does produce a spark when the button is pushed and the top opens.
The top has a strong spring and the lighter has very little carbon residue in the workings. I have not
tried this lighter with any lighter fluid, but you can see the cotton filler inside when you unscrew the filler
plug. The wick is also visible, and is not blackened. I am selling this item with no reserve and a low
starting bid.
