    Description

WWII German Gebirgsjäger Ice Axe & Rope Pin Brooch - Light Infantry Mountaineer. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS First Class.
This pin is believed to be a vintage German Gebirgsjäger mountaineering pin. Pins of similar size and detail have been seen on Gebirgsjäger caps during both WWI & WWII.
The pin measures approximately 1 5/8 inches long and was acquired from a larger lot of WWII pins, insignia, badges, etc.
The pin is marked “800” on the back of the ice axe handle. This is believed to be a jewelers’ silver fineness mark, which translates to 80% silver. However, the silver content has not been tested and purity is not guaranteed.
During WWII the Gebirgsjäger were the light infantry part of the alpine or mountain troops (Gebirgstruppe) of Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS raised a number of mountain infantry units.
Very unique and rare item. A great addition to any WWII collection.
Please see photos for additional details and overall condition. The item will be packed well for safe shipping.
