Here we have very nice WWII German JAGDESCHWADER UDET cuff title that is in excellent condition. It is embroidered in gray cotton thread on a fine blue Melton wool backing and measures 17 inches in length. There is no damage or staining and it remains an attractive example in excellent condition.Jagdschwader 3 "Udet" was formed on 1 May 1939 in Bernburg/Saale from JG 231. It was named after the First World War fighter ace Ernst Udet who was the second highest scoring ace of that war with 62 confirmed victories. The unit fought in France, the Battle of Britain, the Russian front and the Battle of Stalingrad, Italy, the Kuban bridgehead, the home defense in 1944 and during Operation Overload at Normandy, and in and in the last offensives of 1944-45. The unit flew the Bf109 Messerschmitt, Focke-Wolf 190A and Focker-Wolf 190D-9 aircraft. Among its most notable pilots were Heinrich Bär (220 victories), Günter Lutzow (110 victories), Wilhelm Balthasar (40 victories), Walter Oesau (127 victories), Gordon Gollob (150 victories) and Walther Dahl (128 victories).
